Fun Facts about July
We are in the heat of the summer, so I thought I would share with you some fun facts about this month - the month of July!
July is named after Roman dictator Julius Caesar (100 B.C.–44 B.C.). Caesar developed the precursor to the Gregorian calendar we use today.
July is National Watermelon Month
The full Moon in July is called the Buck Moon because the antlers of male deer (bucks) are in full-growth mode at this time. Other names for this full moon come from various Native American, Colonial American, and European sources, so you may also hear the July full Moon referred to as Feather Moulting Moon, Salmon Moon, Berry Moon, Month of the Ripe Corn Moon or Raspberry Moon.
July 5 is the time of aphelion, when Earth is the farthest it will get from the Sun for the entire year—specifically, we’ll be 94,510,886 miles away from our bright star!
source for the above facts, the Old Farmer`s Almanac
Crafters often refer to Christmas in July, because it means we only have six months to get our Christmas crafts completed. This is not necessarily a `fact`, but not many here will argue it!
